A Review: Steady Income Band – Untitled (Pond Life Records)

Pond Life Records are a small independent label based out of Berlin, Amsterdam and London that have had some amazing releases so far, from their first release POND LIFE 001 back in 2018 full of groovy rhythms from core members of the label, through to Kudo Sol’s Solo EP – Kakamega in July last year.

Their latest release from the Steady Income band, due to be released on the 31st January does not disappoint. The members of the group, who have seen success on Ninja Tune, Money Sex, and Tartlet in recent history, have managed to keep this release both unique and synonymous with Pond Life Records vision – providing a 2 track EP full of funk infused melodies.

Both tracks would generally be considered low tempo in the world of dance music; with side A bringing a wonderful slow groovy track overlayed with funky guitar licks and rhythmic keys. Side B is a much more multi-faceted percussive and moody piece which keeps your head swinging throughout.

Both are testaments to the quality of both the members of Steady Income Band’s musical skill and Pond Life Records knack for putting out intelligent and intriguing pieces of work.

Sunday 2nd February see’s Pond Life have the release party for this brilliant record at Brilliant Corners, London!
