Mantissa was formed as a radio show on University Radio Bath (URB) by Tom Allman and James Acquaye Nortey-Glover in September 2015 with the simple aim providing a platform for us to connect with our friends who were based around the country. The show was well received and won URB’s Best Specialist Show 2015/16. In 2020 Angus Whitfield joined the fold and added a new layer of depth to the team.
Mantissa has operated as a non-profit, ad-free platform since 2015 with all costs covered by us. In 2016, we launched our website and mix series that has seen us conduct in-depth interviews, host mixes from upcoming and established artists, and publish all other kinds of features including All Gus No Fuss, Show Spotlight and Mixed Review.
From 2017 onwards we have hosted Aurora, Peach, re:ni, Laksa, and Bake at several venues around London including The Horse & Groom, Bar A Bar, and Lion and Lamb.
In 2021 Mantissa took its first steps into the label space with Mantissa 001. Written and produced by a close friend to the Mantissa family, this unnamed and elusive artist helped launch the label with a bang with three club focused, space inspired tracks designed to decimate a dancefloor or provide the soundtrack to an afters.
While the core team behind Mantissa is a tight-knit, devoted group of writers and promoters, we are driven and connected by our love for music.
We are open to new contributions and future collaborations with other music lovers. Get in touch via our contact us page.
