Every summer London plays host to a bevy of day festivals. However, upon recent experience, rarely do they live up to the hype, despite having all the attributes required of a good festival, i.e. sunny weather and great music. This often comes down to the strict noise restraints and local politics that constantly attempt to stunt the increasingly popular “underground” scene in London.
Sensibly, the site of Junction 2 is Boston Manor Park, Brentford (it has been so for the past two years) – a manageable commute from Central London. The site contains 5 stages: The Bridge, The Hex, The Warehouse, The Pavilion, and The Woods; all of which aim to provide the perfect environment for the sound of the acts they play host to. For example, Nicolas Lutz playing back-to-back with Sonja Moonear will be showcasing their grooving tech on the bright and intimate The Woods stage, while techno legends Luke Slater, Steve Bicknell and Function play together for the first time as LSD in the dark and dingy confines of The Warehouse.
The line-up for Junction 2 provides plenty for music fans of all tastes. However, our Mantissa must-see picks are Joy Orbison, LSD, and Nicolas Lutz b2b Sonja Moonear.
Take a listen to some of their best mixes below to get you in the mood for a stand-out in this summer’s Festival season:
