This weeks Mix to Dig is inspired by the sunshine, bringing you high pitch vocals and rhythmic baselines – Glitterbox’s 5th instalment packs a heavy hitting special guest, Joey Negro (aka Dave Lee). Although the show is hosted and mixed by Glitterbox’s Melvo Baptiste, Joey joins us via a grainy phone line to provide a selection of his favourite tracks from his career.
Melvo, the shows presenter, expertly blends a range of disco classics, house anthems and some of the greatest and latest remixes by the likes of Dr Packer, Dimitri from Paris and Joey Negro himself. The tracklist features legends such as Teddy Pendergrass, Patrice Rushen, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Shalamar, the list goes on and on. What I particularly like about this mix isn’t just the selection, but both Melvo and Joey Negros experiences attached to the tracks. It’s this sheer enthusiasm that rubs off on the mix making it almost impossible to turn off. Be such to check out the attached tracks at the bottom of this article for some of our highlights, however if you must know, my standout track is Joey’s pick from Shalamar – Take that to the bank.
Hazard a listen – I guarantee you’ll know a good amount of the songs, and if you don’t… you’ll definitely want to.
