Tune of the Week: Larry Heard – Comfort

Larry Heard has been releasing consistently innovative music for over 30 years now, and shows no sign of stopping. Warmth and emotion exudes from his productions; allowing him to create music that resonates deeply with listeners. These qualities are shown off in Comfort, an underrated gem from the album Genesis released in 1999.
One of the more downtempo cuts from the album, Comfort creates a lush atmosphere with delicate piano melodies and a sumptuous, languid bassline. No stranger to exploring astronomical themes in his music, the Chicago based producer layers twinkling chords with distorted, wavering synths throughout the track to induce a cosmic aura. Combining these ideas makes for an extremely emotive and thoughtful composition that further cements Heard as one of the most important people in house music.
