Tune of the Week: Ozel AB – Sierra Echo [WORKSHOP 24]

In this Workshop 24 release, Ozel AB provides a much heavier and straightforward approach to that of the classic releases from the label’s mainstays, namely Kassem Mosse and Lowtec.
The EP’s biggest dance-floor filler, Sierra Echo, is as unrelenting as it is upbeat. Built on layers of catchy vocal samples, gurgling bass and sporadic percussion, this track certainly represents a departure from the more low-key and understated releases that Workshop is so well known for. Having said this, if they continue to be as party-friendly and listenable as Ozel AB’s contribution with Sierra Echo, then I for one will certainly not be complaining.
As with Willow’s outstanding release at the back end of last year, this Workshop instalment leaves me thoroughly satisfied and eager to discover what comes next from what is one of the most innovative labels around.
