Terrence Dixon has been producing his obscure brand of techno under his own name and his Population One alias for over 20 years. With a lot of the Detroit producer’s releases leaning towards the experimental side of techno, he has been able to maintain a relatively low profile compared to his more well-known contemporaries from the city. In ‘Pilot Error’, Dixon exudes a subtler oddness than in previous releases, but makes sure to keep the intrigue. The track builds around a minimalist drum pattern, which soon becomes loosely enveloped in looping synths, its hypnotic repetition locking you into a trance. ‘Pilot Error’ is a simple but effective track; another fine addition to the producer’s impressive back catalogue.
