Tune of the Week: The Ragga Twins -Spliffhead

The Ragga Twins, amongst the first Junglists, burst onto the scene with their first release on “Shut Up and Dance Records.” The featured B-side is a certified classic and stands as a melting pot of different styles and genres, offering breakbeat drum patterns, squelching acid noises, heavy basslines with catchy vocal hooks to wrap it all up.

The sharp drums dominate the song on a loop that sounds clean...

In the second section where the female vocal comes in the snare on the first beat comes ever so slightly early, throwing the rhythm off. This lends to a feeling of improvisation, coupled with the sudden transition to the section itself.

All in all, an incredibly playful record...
