I think Youandewan is only able create good music. ‘Ciel’ is a head-down house stepper that personifies the build-up of a set, in my eyes. Warm, spiralling synths coat the measured drum work with melodic goodness. He allows the piece to breathe and gradually builds upon the foundations of which the tune opens with. Short, individual phrases stitched together provide a melody that carries you for a ride with no destination – as if you experienced déjà vu in the Matrix. Definitely one to listen to on a sunny Sunday afternoon, with a camomile tea at hand.
