As anticipation increases amongst the Mantissa crew for Sunfall 2017 we’re sharing a brace of sunshine themed classics from two of the artists we are most eager to see, Larry Heard and Theo Parrish.
Released in 2006, Larry Heard’s The Sun Can’t Compare still sounds as fresh as ever. Revered as one of the pioneers of the Chicago house scene, Heard has a knack for producing soulful tracks with great depth. Constructed around a strong male vocal, The Sun Can’t Compare is an emotional voyage through acid house. Some intelligent 303 work laced with perfectly timed percussion elevates this track into a timeless classic.
Summertime Is Here, originally released in 1999 by Theo Parrish is a beautiful jazz inspired piece that evokes nostalgic memories of relaxed summer afternoons. An incredibly smooth female vocal and the intricacies in Parrish’s composition provide a hypnotic soundscape of harmonic bliss. Summertime is most definitely here.
